Contango SMS Program
Last updated: 2026-04-24
Contango is an SMS platform that participating grain elevators use to communicate with farmers who have opted in. When you subscribe at an elevator, you receive messages from that specific elevator — for example, a text from Acme Grain identifies itself as "Acme Grain: ..." in the body. Contango is the platform sending the message and the operationally-responsible party for compliance, but the elevator you subscribed to is the business you're in conversation with.
This page describes the program in plain English. If you have questions, reply HELP to any message or contact support at support@contango.live.
What messages you'll receive
This is a marketing program. When you opt in, you'll receive promotional SMS from your grain elevator covering:
- Grain bid offers and price-target alerts — our current posted bid for the crops you grow, and alerts when the market reaches a price worth selling at.
- Market commentary and selling opportunities — brief notes when something moves the market (basis trends, report reactions, weather windows) and it's a good time to price grain.
- Program enrollment and seasonal promotions — offers like NGMO grower agreements, free delayed-pricing windows, and limited-time contract incentives.
- Invitations to grower events — meetings and similar gatherings at the elevator.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies; typically 1-4 messages per week during active trading, less outside of active trading windows.
Message and data rates may apply.
How you opt in
You opt in through our public web form. The result is an explicit, timestamped consent tied to your mobile number.
Anyone can subscribe directly at https://policies.contango.live/subscribe. Enter your mobile number, optionally tell us your grain elevator, and check the consent box. The page shows exactly what you'll receive, how often, the rate disclosure, and how to opt out — and you'll receive a welcome text confirming you're signed up.
How you opt out
Reply STOP to any message at any time. You'll get a confirmation that you've been unsubscribed, and you won't receive any further messages through our system.
Opting out at one elevator doesn't automatically opt you out at any other elevator you do business with — each elevator is a separate opt-in — but STOP stops all Contango-sent messages to your number. You can re-enroll at any elevator later via a fresh opt-in.

Who sends these messages
Contango operates the SMS platform and is the party responsible for compliance. Each message identifies the grain elevator it comes from by name (e.g. "Acme Grain: ..."); Contango itself does not appear in the message text. This is the same pattern other service platforms use when they send messages on behalf of a business. When you sign up, you're opting in to receive texts from the grain elevator(s) you do business with, and each message you receive identifies the elevator it comes from.
Consent is captured by Contango directly through the public web form described above. We keep a permanent record of every opt-in, message, and opt-out so we can honor your choices and evidence consent if it is ever required.
